Upgrade & activate iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1 with no error

After failing in first attempt and Google around I thought to search the latest version of Redsnow and give it a try. I found its latest version from http://www.ijailbreak.com/redsn0w/ the latest at that time was “redsn0w_win_0.9.10b8b”. After downloading this version I tried the steps mentioned in another blog (sorry missed the address of that blog) but unfortunately this try also got failed.

So I decided to apply the steps mentioned in First try with new Redsn0w. Here are the steps for your ease again:

–          Run Redsn0w as an administrator
–          Go to Extras > Select IPSW
–          Browse .ipsw file that was downloaded from “iPhone 3GS 5.0 ipsw”.
–          Click OK, Click Yes (read the instruction if you have right iPhone then click yes)
–          Click back on Redsn0w
–          Click Jailbreak
–          Power off the iPhone
–          Check ON “Install Cydia, Install iPad baseband and Deactivate”
–          Click next & hold power button for 3 seconds, then hold Home button keep the power button pressed for around 10 seconds, release power button and keep Home button pressed for another 10 to 15 seconds.
–          Release home button
–          Wait and let it complete it’s work
–          As soon as Redsnow says “done”, close it.
–          Now let the iPhone complete its work.

Once the iPhone turned ON, it is on iOS 5.1.1 Yahoooo! but wait a minute, it still says No service :(.

No worries, this time I found the fix for it as well, I followed following steps found at blog:

–          Connect the iPhone with internet through wifi.
–          Open up Cydia and go to Manage >> Source. Tap Edit >> Add and write down “http://repo.iparelhos.com” and hit Add Source.
–          Once the source adds successfully, search on Cydia for Ultrasn0w fixer for 5.1.1 and install it.
–          Now search & install ultrasn0w from Cydia. Here you goes “No Service” should replace with your cellular network now.

Note
: If it is still not appearing then reboot the iPhone using Redsnow [Extras >> Just Boot]. Since 5.1.1 is a tethered jailbreak, we need to boot it by using Redsn0w .
